the loish brushset by loish the loish brushset by loish
I never uploaded my brushes before, because they are actually mostly standard photoshop brushes or some free brushes that I got from fellow artists here on Deviantart. However, people still keep asking what I use, so I went ahead and made this! As you can see, there is not a huge difference between the four busts above. I tend to use my brushes in the same way, so the only real difference I get is some effects from the texture and shape of the brush. Still, I hope you find them useful!

for more information, PLEASE read my FAQ at loish.deviantart.com/journal/F… !!

hard round brush
warning: do not use this brush if you are stressed and have a habit of clenching your pen too tightly! in order to get strong lines you have to press down hard. using this brush during a time when i was already clenching too much contributed enormously to my injury!

hi Loish! do you have any tutorial about photoshop tools?
i found the screen captures of your drawings' digital process and i noted that you use some tools that help you a lot, but i have no ideia what they are called or how to use it (like that red selection done before you start painting). if you don't have one, do you know any tutorial you could share? would be really helpful <3 thank you a lot!!

i don't have any comprehensive tutorials on that, no - sorry about that! my tutorials are always more about the drawing process and not so much about tools. if you could give me the timecode of the moment i make that selection, i'd be happy to explain it to you!

Ah, this year I've decided to delete all the brushes I've been using on Photoshop and download other stuff so I can progress more in art. I think I'll steal one or two from you. :)

I really wonder how you create such beautifully smooth lines in Photoshop, since it doesn't have a stabilization feature and smoothing doesn't help too much!;

I just tweak them for a long time, thickening some areas and thinning out others :)

Hi Lois, i was wondering how long does it takes you to create these small doodles, because you always succeeded in making your sketches so... Effortless :)
honestly though, i really wanted to know, do you put actual effort in drawing this?

Of course I put effort in :) sometimes it takes me a long time to get the art to look spontaneous and flowing! So it looks 'easy' but behind the scenes I sometimes struggle to get it to look that way, haha. The sketch above was really quickly made though, mostly because it's 100% in my comfort zone :)

Ah i see! It does look different from your other works, the lines look much more 'flowy' and crispier. How long did you spent to paint one girl in this piece? Could it be 45 minutes?

you mean these examples of the brushes above? the bust of the girl? took me like 10 minutes or so!

Ah these brushes are lovely! I do have a question though. Are they okay to use in commercial projects (ex. using a brush in a design for a T-shirt), or would you prefer they only be used for personal artwork?  Thanks for the great resources!
