How do you get the noise/blur effect around your drawings?

it's a combination of gaussian blur, chromatic abberation (which you can achive with the 'lens correction' filter), and noise :) i just duplicate the layer with the art on it and add those effects, then erase it again in the areas that i want sharp.

not sure who you're referring to! but they are drawn from imagination and not based on existing people/characters.

do you have any tips for your style? what artist influenced you and like how long did it take you to come up with your own wonderful style? I've been going at it with faces for a while and it's hard for me to really go out of what is realistic :(

you can find lots of info on that here - loish.net/faq :] and this deviation shows pretty well what my major influences are: loish.deviantart.com/art/influ… (planning on making a new, more detailed one soon though). for me, referencing disney and comic artists like auroreblackcat really helped develop my style!

The blond one on the left is cute but the brunette honestly looks distorted. Her head is titled yet her cheekbones align horizontally, as if her face was melting. Her right eye, which is closer to us and should be a bit bigger, is actually smaller than her left. Her titled forehead makes her look like a neanderthal as well as the lack of volume at the back of her head.

It's cartoon style, it isn't SUPPOSED to be realistic or perfect/realistis proportions. stfu.

Dude it's not realism, it's a caricature. It's part of the style. It's not supposed to have absolutely perfect proportions. I actually like the one on the left better.

Always the realism excuse. Cheekbones not aligned is not a style. An almost horizontal forehead is most likely not style. A lack of cranium is not style. It's not about proportions (you should check the definition of "proportion"), it's about structure. You can draw a caricature and not make a side of the character's face look as if it's melting. You are not doing loish any favors by completely overlooking the flaws in her art.

It is proportion. She already knows. You are not doing her any favors either. And yes, it is style. You think she's going to sit there and measure for a caricature?

Friend, it's not about measurements, or proportions. You clearly don't know what I'm talking about and is blindly praising her work. As I said before, a distorted cheekbone is not a style, it's a mistake. Her art is pretty but far from perfect, and it's our job as fellow artists and art lovers to help her see where she could improve - because if she knew the structure is wrong, she would have fixed it.
