manga-style art (i know this is a contested term, but i’ll risk generalizing for now) used to be one of my biggest influences when i was first starting out as an artist. today i suddenly got an impulse to see how i would approach the style with my current skillset, and this came out. it was so much fun! big credit for style reference goes to cushart, one of my favorite artists.
Sounds like it was a lot of fun! I love her hair Really nice to see artists exploring other styles... people get kind of scared and stuck in a rut sometimes being expected to produce something really similar, and I think you branch out a lot and that's always really great to see!
if i remember correctly, i think i used the 'gouache' brush from this set - loish.deviantart.com/art/the-l… - for most of the drawing, and then used a soft-edged photoshop brush to soften everything and add extra strands/shading (something i normally don't do)! for me, it's the third brush in the default photoshop set and it's called 'soft round pressure size'.
Oh my gawwwsh! >3< So amazing! The gradient hair is amazing! I don't think it could be achieved so wonderfully in real life (of course, this is an art-piece). But, wow! The glow, the colour of the hair, the eyes and shape of the hair! Everything is just so beautiful!
