candy ribbons by loish candy ribbons by loish
i was stressing out a little over travelling issues (going to africa in a few days and there were issues with the flight booking) so i needed to relax and draw something mindless! and then this was born. someone pointed out the similarity between this and mattahan's piece -… - which is definitely not a coincidence, i am a huge fan of his work!

drawn in photoshop CS3 with an intuos3 tablet in about 6 hours. textures from , tips on how to use textures can be found here -… and for other tips check out my f.a.q -…

I see you were very inspired by mattahan's En Focus piece. I can see that on the way you painted the ribbons, as if they were “crumbly”. The color scheme seems to be inspired by his too (green and red), only you desaturated yours. It would’ve been nice to mention him in your description.

thanks for combing through my art and only leaving negative comments on the things you took issue with ;) i think your comments about my influences are fair, they were huge inspirations for me, so i updated the descriptions. however, i don't appreciate finding my inbox peppered with exclusively harsh commentary from you. i've blocked you so you can take your nitpicking elsewhere! bye now!

from what i saw (yes i was bored and looked through the comments in your art), they actually gave you an honest, accurate critique. sure they weren't sugarcoating but they were honest, and they were certainly not nitpicking lol. must suck to be told for once that your art isn't perfect, but trying to make them look like the bad guy isn't very mature :p

i received a few comments from that person in my message center and every single one was a negative critique similar to the one above, posted on a few random pieces that ranged from new to very old. i'm not saying the critiques were dishonest or inaccurate, in fact i adjusted my description based on what they had said, but i got the idea that they were searching through my gallery with the exclusive purpose of sharing only negative accusations about my work. that's just my impression though!

oh, and your statement about "being told for once that my art isn't perfect" is not only rude and presumptuous, but reveals quite a bit of bitterness on your part. i hope you get a chance to work that out!
